"The Road Less Traveled"

The submission deadline is Friday, May 31, 2019.
Filming dates will be: Saturday, June 22; Sunday, June 23; Saturday, June 29; and Sunday, June 30.
Not all roles will be required on all shoot dates.  Production will be in the San Francisco Bay Area and Copperopolis, CA.

No pay, volunteer.  Food will be provided onset and IMDB credit given once film is publicly screened.

Project synopsis:  A man learns more about life through meeting other people while on a journey.

This dramedy short film is for the Movie Making Throughout the Bay (MMTB) Producer's Challenge due October 1, 2019.  NOTE: Please do not apply if you are already committed to another team for this challenge as each cast and crew member can only work with one team for this challenge.

Role Descriptions

Ian

Lead (Male)  |  APPEARANCE:  20-39 years old, African America or Caucasian, skinny, thin, gawky, ungainly.  CHARACTER: Writer. ROLE ACTIVITIES:  Meets and talks to three people on the journey. Walking. Sitting. Carries a backpack and notebook to write in.  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Should be okay with getting dirty either with real dirt or with makeup. Willing/able to roll down a hill or knoll (for one scene). Okay with doing basic yoga poses. Walking barefoot on an ocean beach.  FILMING DAYS: Multiple days.  WARDROBE:  T-shirt, shorts or pants, tennis shoes or flip flops. Okay with wearing tight women's workout clothes for 2 scenes. (No logos or color white/light colors)

Eddie

Supporting (Male) Best Friend | APPEARANCE:  20-39 years old, African American, Caucasian, East Indian, Latin, Ethnically Ambiguous, any body type, not extremely thin. Average "slacker".  ROLE ACTIVITIES:  Encourages the main character to take the adventure/journey. Drinking fake beer.  PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Walking, sitting.  FILMING DAYS:  One day.  WARDROBE:  T-shirt, Shorts or pants, tennis shoes. (No logos or color white/light colors)

Carl

Supporting (Male) Mechanic  |  APPEARANCE:  35-45 years old, African American, Asian, Caucasian, East Indian, Ethnically Ambiguous, pleasant, friendly, welcoming. Medium to buff body type.  ROLE ACTIVITIES:  This character believes that life is full of happy, tragic, and funny things if one looks around. Has a conversation with main character.  FILMING DAYS:  One day.  WARDROBE:  T-shirt, jeans, tennis shoes, baseball cap. (No logos or color white/light colors)

Erik

Supporting (Male) Businessman  |  APPEARANCE: 30-40 years old, African American, Asian, Caucasian, Latin, Ethnically Ambiguous, skinny, medium build. Intense, but vulnerable.  ROLE ACTIVITES:  This character regrets focusing on himself too much and losing the love of his life. Has conversation with main character. FILMING DAYS:  One day.  WARDROBE:  Smart business attire (suit preferred) - must own a suit.

Talia

Supporting (Female) Yogi, recovered drug addict  |  APPEARANCE:  40-50 years old, Caucasian, Latin, Ethnically Ambiguous, skinny, mellow, relaxed, happy, peaceful, free-spirit.  ROLE ACTIVITIES: She is thankful that she chose to recover and survive. Conversation with main character.  FILMING DAYS:  One day.  WARDROBE:  Yoga workout clothes (Nothing see-through please), short sleeve or sleeveless shirt, barefoot. (Please no logos or white/light colors).
